Middle School Drama Teacher

Applicants must have a valid Japanese visa; visa sponsorship is not possible for this part-time position. - =Primary Purpose :The Middle School Drama Teacher teaches introductory drama classes to students in Grades 6, 7, and 8. =Qualifications :The successful applicant will: be a committed Christian and an active member of a church. have an understanding of and desire to contribute to the vision and mission of Christian Academy in Japan. have a relevant bachelor’s degree. have current teaching credentials or be willing to pursue appropriate certification. have experience teaching drama classes in as school setting. have native-speaker level English abilities; Japanese language and cultural understanding is an advantage. be a proven team player, committed to collaborative working and willing to adapt to different styles and approaches as appropriate. have excellent relational, interpersonal, and communication skills. be of mature disposition, known to be loyal, honest, and discreet, and to have a strong sense of community service. =Responsibilities Teach introductory drama classes to students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 Organize student performances Work in close collaboration with other teachers and staff across the school more broadly Represent Christ well in all classroom and school activities Develop program and curriculum since this is a new class =Other Information Drama classes run in 10-week rotations at each grade level, meeting Monday, Tuesday, and Friday afternoons, with one morning class on Wednesday and two on Thursday. It is possible that additional drama teaching or leading opportunities may become available in the future. =Start Date Part-time position, with start date August 1, 2026

College and Career Counselor

Full-time vacancy from August 1, 2026 Applications close March 23, 2026, or sooner if a shortlist of suitable applicants is filled or an offer is accepted. - =Primary Purpose :The College and Career Counselor prepares students for their lives after graduating from CAJ, in particular by preparing them for the college application process in countries around the world but especially in the United States and Japan, and by walking alongside the students as they go through that process. =Qualifications :The successful applicant will: be a committed Christian and an active member of a church. have an understanding of and desire to contribute to the vision and mission of Christian Academy in Japan. have a relevant bachelor’s degree. have experience working with students in a high school in an academic counseling role. be familiar with college application processes for the United States and Japan, with experience using MaiaLearning or a similar platform have excellent organizational and administrative skills have native-speaker level English abilities; Japanese language and cultural understanding is an advantage. be a proven team player, committed to collaborative working and willing to adapt to different styles and approaches as appropriate. have excellent relational, interpersonal, and communication skills. be of mature disposition, known to be loyal, honest, and discreet, and to have a strong sense of community service. =Responsibilities Plan, implement, and administer the school's college and career prep program Teach college prep classes to high school students, especially juniors and seniors Meet regularly with individual students for academic counseling Prepare documents for college applications Ensure students know and meet college application deadlines, including over school breaks Plan and coordinate annual graduation ceremonies Plan and coordinate standardized testing on site, including PSAT, SAT, and AP exams Stay up to date with changes to the college application requirements in the English-speaking world and in Japan Assist Academic Office staff as needed Participate in and potentially oversee other school-required activities as needed =Expectations :The successful applicant will: be flexible in working with students of different backgrounds and academic levels. work well with the high school principal, other teachers, and the broader CAJ staff. work well with parents as needed. represent Christ well in all school activities and in all relationships with colleges. =Start Date Full-time position, with start date August 1, 2026

Orchestra Director

The Orchestra Director brings vision, direction, and leadership for the school’s entire strings program. =Qualifications :The successful applicant will: be a committed Christian and an active member of a church. have an understanding of and desire to contribute to the vision and mission of Christian Academy in Japan. have a relevant bachelor’s degree. have current teaching credentials or be willing to pursue appropriate certification. have experience teaching strings classes in as school setting and conducting music ensembles, preferably strings. have native-speaker level English abilities; Japanese language and cultural understanding is an advantage. be a proven team player, committed to collaborative working and willing to adapt to different styles and approaches as appropriate. have excellent relational, interpersonal, and communication skills. be of mature disposition, known to be loyal, honest, and discreet, and to have a strong sense of community service. =Responsibilities Teach and direct the Middle School orchestra Teach and direct the High School orchestra Bring vision, direction, and leadership to the school’s entire strings program, in cooperation with the Elementary School strings teacher and within the scope of the music department’s guiding principles Plan, implement, and grade appropriate lessons and assignments, to improve individual and group playing techniques, grow music appreciation, and further understanding of music theory Implement effective methods of classroom management Be flexible in working with students of different backgrounds and playing levels Plan, organize, lead, and conduct regular orchestral concerts during the year, including concerts organized by KPASS, sometimes outside of regular hours Administer the strings program, which includes managing the string instruments rental and repair program, concert attire, and communication with families Work in close collaboration with other music teachers and other school staff; assist at other concerts and KPASS musical events, sometimes outside of regular hours Represent Christ well in all classroom and school activities =Other Information The High School Orchestra class takes place every other school day as the first class of the day; the Middle School Orchestra class takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays as the last class of the day. =Start Date Part-time position, with start date August 1, 2026
