CAJ NEWS
SPRING 2025
BUILDING COMMUNITY
In our fall newsletter, we celebrated God’s faithfulness over CAJ’s 75 years. This spring, we highlight the heart of our school: community. Jean Hino, CAJ’s elementary principal and a beloved member of the CAJ family for over 25 years, shares her reflections as she prepares to retire at the end of this school year. Her dedication and leadership have left a lasting impact on generations of students, staff, and families.
75th Anniversary Celebration We warmly invite you to celebrate CAJ's anniversary with us on Saturday, April 5, at 2:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. While registration is not required, we especially encourage those planning to participate in the alumni games to indicate their interest. You can view the schedule and complete the registration here.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10 (NIV)

My two best friends are classmates from CAJ. The shared history is a foundation as well as a shortcut in communication. I value these relationships so deeply.

Howard Blair taught me to think critically, and Coach Cummings pulled the best out of me in cross country, wrestling, and track.

Favorite teacher/mentor: Mr Herweyer and Coach Eby. Favorite class: Grade 12 Pre-Calculus with Mr. Herweyer. Favorite place: tough one, but the lighting booth in the auditorium is right up there (no pun intended). Friends: many in our class, even if we only catch up at reunions.

New to Japan, I started at CAJ in the dorm in 8th grade. Being a boarder during my teenage years was loads of fun and made me appreciate my parents and love being with them during vacation.
