When a student damages school property, it is important that he/she face consequences and make efforts at restitution.

Intentional Damage[edit]

  • If something is broken intentionally, the student typically pays the majority of the cost.
    • For example, a window broken intentionally costs the student ¥30,000, and if the window is particularly expensive, the student will pay more.
    • If, due to financial constraints, the family will have difficulty paying, a combination of money and work hours may be negotiated by the principal in consultation with the head of school.

Accidental Damage[edit]

  • If something is broken by accident, the student may be expected to do work as restitution under the supervision of the maintenance department.
    • The number of hours depends on the cost of the item and the situation, and is decided by the principal in consultation with the head of school.
