Online Summer Programs / オンラインサマープログラム(夏)
Due to concerns of the COVID-19 virus and exposure, CAJ Summer Programs is exclusively online this year. Our Summer Programs is offered primarily for CAJ students. Some of our courses are open to non-CAJ students. If you are a non-CAJ student wanting to enroll, please contact the Summer Programs Coordinator, Lisa Cummings.
新型コロナウィルスの感染拡大防止のため今年のCAJサマープログラムは全てオンラインで実施されます。CAJのサマープログラムは主にCAJの生徒のためのものですが、幾つかのコースはCAJ以外の生徒も参加可能です。CAJの生徒でない方で、参加ご希望の方は、サマープログラムコーディネーターのカミングス・リサ、lcummings@caj.ac.jp. までご連絡ください。

Payment / 支払い方法
  • Families with a CAJ or SSS account will have the fees charged to their account after the class is over.
  • Families who are not enrolled at CAJ or SSS need to make payment before the first day of class through one of the following means:
    • Cash, in person: Our cashier is available by appointment, please contact: jhayashi@caj.ac.jp
    • Bank transfer: Resona Bank, Higashi Kurume Bank, Futsu Yokin Savings Account #0845378
  • Be sure to include the student's name and the class(es) the student is attending.
  • CAJまたはSSSにアカウントがあるご家族の場合はクラス終了後に費用がチャージされます。
  • CAJまたはSSSにアカウントがないご家族の場合はクラスの初日に以下に記す方法のどちらかによるお支払いをお願いします。
    • 現金の場合:CAJのお支払いの窓口にて8時15分から10時(水曜日は9時から)、12時半から2時、3時半から4時半の間にお支払いください。
    • 銀行振込:りそな銀行、東久留米支店、普通預金口座 口座番号0845378までお振込みください。
  • お子様のお名前と参加されるクラスを振込用紙に必ずご記入ください。
Other Details / その他の注意点
  • Grade level is set for what grade the students are entering in the fall.
  • Classes with enrollment below the minimum will be canceled.
  • Families will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.
  • Please contact Lisa Cummings (Summer Program Coordinator) with any questions or to make changes to your registration.
  • 学年は生徒が8月で入学する学年で設定されています
  • 参加人数が定員に満たないクラスはキャンセルになります。
  • 変更があった場合にはなるべく早くご連絡いたします。
  • クラス参加申し込みをした後で、変更が発生した場合は、カミングス・リサ(サマープログラムコーディーネーター)までご連絡ください。

English grammar, spelling, vocabulary, Grade 1-3 (C), grades 1st-3rd  open
Do you want to speak English well? We will learn to use good grammar, add rich vocabulary and practice excellent spelling.

MS Reading/ Writing Skills (C), grades 7th-8th  open
This course provides students with opportunities to learn/improve reading and writing skills. We are going to explore different topics such as geography, history and culture. For reading, we will be learning reading strategies to improve reading skills. Students will also learn how to answer reading questions. For writing, we will focus on writing skills, such as organizing ideas, answering essay questions, summarizing/paraphrasing, grammar, revising/editing, and note taking skills. *Course open only to CAJ students

Book club “Ms. Bixby’s Last Day”, grades 4th-6th  open
Join us as we read and discuss "Ms. Bixby's Last Day" by John David Anderson. When a loved teacher suddenly can't finish the school year because of sickness, three boys decide to give her a very special last day. Please purchase or borrow this book for the class (available on Amazon Japan.)

Beginner Graphic Design, MS (C), grades MS  open
Join us as we explore the graphic design app Canva. We will make digital creations such as photo collages, posters, invitations, brochures and more. If students will participate via an iPad, please have the free Canva app loaded in advance. *Course open only to CAJ students

Study/Research Skills, Grades 4-8 (C), grades 4th-8th  open
Where does one start after the teacher says the dreaded words "research project"? Come learn strategies to strengthen your study skills and help you tackle big assignments with confidence! The only materials you need to get started are a notebook and a pencil. *This class is a repeat (same content) from week 1 and 2. *Course open only to CAJ students

Exploring Exciting Science, grades HS  open
This course would teach students about some of the most exciting advancements in modern science that have been published in recent years. In this course we will talk through exciting experiments published in top scientific journals covering topics across all spectrums of science ranging from neuroscience to astrophysics. The course will equip students with the basic skills to ask scientific questions and design their own experiments. *Course open only to CAJ students.

Puppet Read-Alouds, Grade 1-3, grades 1st-3rd  open
Enjoy many puppet-assisted story times with Baabara, Truthful the Lion, Grudge the Rat and Genevieve the Giraffe. Learn to perform your own puppet read-aloud. (Previous course on puppetry recommended but not required.) Note: Please have a puppet available to use.
