Summer Programs / サマープログラム(夏)
We are excited to offer more than 20 Summer Programs and classes this Summer! Courses will run from June 19th through July 7, 2023. COVID-19 protocols at CAJ have been changed and lifted during the last year, so programs are open to current and incoming CAJ students, as well as SSS students and families. Scroll down to see the classes offered and check back as some courses continue to be offered.

Payment / 支払い方法
  • Families with a CAJ or SSS account will have the fees charged to their account after the class is over.
  • Families who are not enrolled at CAJ or SSS need to make payment before the first day of class through one of the following means:
    • Cash, in person: Our cashier is available by appointment, please contact: jhayashi@caj.ac.jp
    • Bank transfer: Resona Bank, Higashi Kurume Bank, Futsu Yokin Savings Account #0845378
  • Be sure to include the student's name and the class(es) the student is attending.
  • CAJまたはSSSにアカウントがあるご家族の場合はクラス終了後に費用がチャージされます。
  • CAJまたはSSSにアカウントがないご家族の場合はクラスの初日に以下に記す方法のどちらかによるお支払いをお願いします。
    • 現金の場合:CAJのお支払いの窓口にて8時15分から10時(水曜日は9時から)、12時半から2時、3時半から4時半の間にお支払いください。
    • 銀行振込:りそな銀行、東久留米支店、普通預金口座 口座番号0845378までお振込みください。
  • お子様のお名前と参加されるクラスを振込用紙に必ずご記入ください。

  • Grade level is set for what grade the students are entering in the fall.
  • Classes with enrollment below the minimum will be canceled.
  • Families will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.
  • Please contact Anita Aung (Summer Program Coordinator) with any questions or to make changes to your registration.

Volleyball for girls interested in improving their skills.

2023 Reading and Writing A, grades 6th-8th  open
This course provides students with opportunities to learn/improve reading and writing skills. We are going to explore different topics such as geography, history and culture. For reading, we will be learning reading strategies to improve reading skills. Students will also learn how to answer reading questions and get to work on Summer Reading assignment. For writing, we will focus on writing skills, such as organizing ideas, answering essay questions, summarizing/paraphrasing, grammar, revising/editing, and note taking skills.

2023 Intro to Film Studies Week 1, grades 9-12  open
Learn how to move from being a passive consumer of movies to an active viewer who pays attention to film techniques and considers the choices of screenwriters, directors, actors, and production designers in the filmmaking process. To help us learn about film techniques -- such as shots, angles, lighting, and editing -- we will shoot and share our own short films. We will also watch and discuss several full length movies together. This is a course for anyone who likes to watch and discuss movies or good TV. No prior filmmaking experience required. Beginners and movie buffs alike will learn something new.

During our weekly session, you will learn different acting techniques, learn to create your own work using improv work, and have the opportunity to present your own monologue or scene. If you're nervous about signing up yourself, invite your friends to sign up with you! Whether you're into serious drama or fun comedy, this class is for everyone. There will be a break for lunch

Spy School! - Two weeks filled with fun learning and hands-on activities, revolving around the theme of "Spy School!" Each day will begin with class chapel time and end with fun games and activities. There may be related field trips by group level. The price is fixed whether you come for 1 week or 2 weeks and does include lunch provided by Cezar's Kitchen.

2023 Intro to Film Studies Week 2, grades 9-12  open
You do not need to take Week 1 in order to take Week 2. However, Week 2 will build on what we learned in week 1 by continuing our exploration of what it means to be an active viewer. We will spend more time watching and discussing full films together. We might focus on the work of a specific film director, such as Christopher Nolan (Inception and The Dark Knight), or two related directors: "Mizoguchi and Miyazaki: Giants of Japanese Cinema."
