Elementary: Terrence Thomas (5th)


Joined CAJ: 1st grade
Home country: Fiji
Club involvement: Nishihara Rugby Team and a sumo club in Tachikawa
Interesting fact: Terrence joined his sumo wrestling club in June, and despite being new to the sport, recently placed 5th at a tournament against the best 5th grade wrestlers in all of Kanto.
Favorite subjects: PE and Science
Favorite hobbies: Gaming, Sumo, playing outside (especially tag with his Dad)
One word to describe Terrence (according to Terrence): Funny
Favorite place on campus: The turf field
What do you love most about CAJ? “The community we have is great. Everyone is really kind and caring.”

Middle School: Sawa Imai (8th)


Joined CAJ: 4th grade
Club involvement at CAJ: Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball
Clubs outside of CAJ: Dance club, focusing on ballet and jazz dancing
Favorite hobbies: Baking, especially cookies and scones
Favorite place to visit outside of Tokyo: Hawaii
Favorite subject: PE
Where do you see yourself in 15 years? “Graduated college and with a high-paying job where I can use my ability to speak English and Japanese”
One word to describe Sawa (according to Sawa): Enthusiastic
Favorite place on campus: The cushions in the library for reading and hanging out
What do you love most about CAJ? “I like how it’s away from downtown Tokyo, and we can enjoy the fresh air. And since it’s a Christian school, I get to learn about God and grow closer to Him.”
What’s a quote you live by? “Find the positive in every situation.”

High School: Nathan Bae (12th)


Joined CAJ: 9th grade
Club involvement at CAJ: Volleyball, chapel band and chapel committee
Favorite hobbies: Piano and photography
What are your plans after high school? “I plan to go to the United States for college, and I’m open to pretty much anything [studies-wise].”
Favorite class at CAJ: Calculus BC. “It was a hard class, but it was a small group of us, and we were all friends. Mr. Marshall helped make it chill.”
Favorite place to visit outside of Tokyo: Los Angeles. “I love the beaches, and we have lots of family and friends there, so my family goes back there most of the time when we go to the US.”
One word to describe Nathan (according to friends): Authentic
Favorite spot on campus: The middle of the turf field
What do you love most about CAJ? “I love the community. It’s a smaller school, so we can get closer to each other. There are especially strong bonds within classes and sports teams, and sharing our faith with each other also creates a stronger bond.”
What’s a quote you live by? “We often hear, ‘life is short, so enjoy it,’ but we often forget, ‘eternity is long, prepare for it.’”
