Knight Vision: A Note from our Head of School
Back to newsletter

The CAJ theme for the 2025-26 school year is Knight Time. Ask any student, even kindergarteners, “What time is it?” and you can be sure to get the response: “Knight Time!”
CAJ students have been proud Knights for many years and, inspired by our high school principal Tyrone Fambro, this year we are taking some time to consider together what that means for us as individual members of this community.
At the beginning of this year I spoke to our students and staff about Knight Vision, as distinct from night vision. Night (No-K) vision is weak, undiscerning, and limiting. We all struggle to see when it’s dark, not sure of what’s around us, where we should go, or how we should act.
But we are CAJ Knights, and so we have Knight (Yes-K) Vision. Knight Vision is strong, discerning, and empowering. With Knight Vision, we see that we are God’s soldiers in a battle, a spiritual struggle. We see who our enemy is, and who our enemy is not. We see the weapons that God has given us and how to fight effectively with them. We see why we are fighting, the purpose that God has given us.
Knight Vision allows us to zoom in, to see the needs of the individual student or those around us, and allows us to zoom out, to see the needs of Japan and the world. With Knight Vision, we see the whole picture.
And Knight Vision allows us to “see” God, “whom no one has seen or can see,” and have a glimpse of his awesome glory and holiness.
CAJ Knights cannot be true knights without Knight Vision. For all of us CAJ Knights — current students, alumni, and staff alike — may this be a year that we see more and more with our God-given Knight Vision.
