The varsity girls' basketball team also finished Far East play on Thursday. Unfortunately, the Knights couldn't overcome E.J. King and lost by a 30-21 margin. CAJ finished the combined tournament tied for seventh place after placing third in Division II.

E.J. King was similar in size to CAJ, but the Cobras were physical and took advantage of some missed offensive opportunities by the Knights.

"We were pressing and we caused a good number of turnovers, but we just couldn’t connect on the other end," coach Craig Eby said. "E.J. also boxed out really well."

Julia had eight points and Erika had seven points in the loss. Kachel and Reiko contributed five rebounds each.

The Knights also received two Division II All-Stars from their performance in the first two days of the tournament: Erika and Julia. Erika's scoring from all over the court gave the team a big lift throughout the tournament. Julia's work near the basket rebounding, defending and scoring was also key for the Knights.

CAJ's record for the season is now 14-11. The team will resume Kanto league play next Thursday at Seisen.
