The JV boys' basketball team lost to powerhouse ASIJ on Tuesday night by a score of 65-21. The Mustangs scored the first 12 points of the game and the Knights had trouble recovering against a taller, faster and more experienced squad.
Dongha (16 points with five three-pointers) and Satvik (five points) did all the scoring for the Knights in this game.
"I wasn't expecting perfection or even a 'W' in the win column for us tonight," coach Charles Smoker said. "My first challenge to the team was showing effort. In the first quarter, we kind of freaked out and were overwhelmed. We got that effort in the second, third and fourth quarters though."
Smoker said "the team played pretty good team defense." He was also happy with how the players conducted themselves on the court and the bench.
The Mustangs were a much bigger team, but Smoker's charge to the team after the game was to box out better in order to stay more competitive in the rebounding department.
CAJ's next game is at Kinnick next Tuesday.
